URGENT Dogs in married quarter

Options
Hi

Please can someone point me in the direction of where i can find it written down that i can have 2 dogs in a married quarter. Trying to get a dog from battersea and as I have already got a dog they want it in writing that i can have two. Remember seeing it written down somwhere, I think it was in my license to ocuppy. But as always when you want to try nad find something I find that it has been put in a safe place.
Thanks

  • i didnt realise you had to tell them apart from when you request a qtr, but i guess you could just phone up the housing people for your area on the DE web page. my neighbours have 3 dogs in a tiny 2 bed so i cant see it being a problem.
  • failing that a letter from your/hubbys' CO normally does the trick.

When we took home two cats from the Cats Protection League we too had to provide written proof that this was ok with our landlord (DHE)

We just asked at the local office and they knocked us up a letter saying it was ok.

We live in a large 4 bed house and are not allowed to have more than 2 dogs. I imagine it would be in the paperwork you got when you took on the quarter.
best of luck with Battersea - they wouldn't let us take one because we were in a quarter.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

I'm surprised at that. We managed to get a dog from Battersea while living in quarters in Stanmore. However, beforehand we did have a home visit by the people from the Mayhew Animal Home to check whether the quarter was suitable. Also we had to get a letter from DHE giving permission, even though we had had dogs in quarters for the previous 15 years.

We've now had him for 9 years and he's still going strong.

Years ago I remember a friend of mine wasn't allowed to re-home a couple of rabbits from a Rescue Shelter because they were in the Forces!! Claimed something about the Forces people move around too much which would distress the animals.
  • I went to wood green animal shelter and they where fine re-homing the dogs at my quater, we had the standard home visit and got all cleared.
I would write to DHE in advance and say you would like permission to keep 2 dogs and they will send you a letter to confirm they give consent.

Also you can try other places there is a site called pre loved, which although do sell new pups also offer rehoming via privet ads.
good luck with your new pouch
