I'll remember to beat my brains out before I reply in future :)

How technical is it hitting the [ ] keys !!!!!!?

As a windows user, I blame Microsoft +Apple for making computers too user friendly, back in the day, if you didn't understand the basics - you couldn't use it - end of!

As for the quote button - can't say I use it myself...or any of the other numpty-buttons, so it never crossed my mind to state the bleeding obvious...I mistakenly thought the OP was wanting to quote out of context...I'll know next time never to overestimate people!

    :)

Well I have to agree... surely if you could see the reply button, you could see the quote button too!

Without also wanting to offend anyone, it's because people don't read, they want a quick fix and aren't prepared to invest any time.

Just like those that refuse to search for a topic before the blithely post for the millionth time, "what's the best free anti-virus" etc.

No offence made at the OP btw, thought it was a technical question re how to quote using [ ] as it was in the Tech forum... ;)

Would like to just point out that I had tried the quote button before, but as it doesn't show as a box until after you post the message I assumed I was doing something wrong.

Very sorry if I am not very pc literate but all that I know is basically self taught!

    Use PREVIEW button before posting.

Keep going, it all becomes easier with time and a little help and nobody on this forum begrudges that.

We are only teasing, if we didn't want to help we wouldn't have done in the first place.

Everyone is learning all the time. Just experiment and never be afraid to ask!

//edit: RANT mode off. Sometimes it's not enough to think it...you have to share :) insincerest apologies if anyone is offended

    Even after ranting like that?:confused::p:p:p:p:p

I do think sometimes you "techie" people forget we are not all like that:o

Took me ages to figure out how to multi quote before we got our new toy;)

Errm you have quoted from two different people: re-read and digest.

If people read things initially, perhaps they'd understand more...

Just looking through the forum and there are people asking basic questions, than can simply be answered by spending 5 minutes reading the manuals which came with their products. If people aren't taught how to research and educate themselves, we'll be left with a nation of people unable to answer any questions themselves.

    I know I did:cool:
And I do know what you are saying, but sometimes manuals could be written in Swahili for all the sense they make:o
But why not make use of benefit of your ( and others of course :D) wisdom

and now you're doing a sterling job of multi-quoting :T

I was hoping my 'rant' would come over tongue in cheek - perhaps i was wrong, I really hadn't considered my earlier instructions to be particularly 'techie', I guess I assume a certain level of competence (can hit buttons) which is foolish of me. :(

I consider myself reprimanded, and will go sit in the doghouse :(

//wonders if I need to buy a doghouse?

    EDIT - 27k + posts - you must go through a keyboard/week :)
