Plumbing Advice Needed

Hi there,

I'm trying to save a bit of money by replacing a toilet myself. I had difficulty disconnecting the old plastic pipe that connects the bottom water inlet to the cistern so I decided to saw it off. Probably a bad move but it seemed sensible at the time.

Now I need to remove the brass bolt which is at the top of an 18 inch pipe so that I can pull out the remaining piece of the old plastic pipe. I've managed to unscrew it using an adjustable wrench but it just keeps turning and won't come off.

I thought that this was a simple bolt on a thread which would unscrew really easily. Is this not the case?

Any ideas?

Thanks, Tony
