Asda Home panel

  • Plenty of emails this past week or so from Asda, and not a single mention of anything being in this for us... :(
And, I'm sick of the sight of surveys as it is, nevermind.

Very disappointed with Asda's Home Panel. All I've received are surveys with the 'reward' being an entry into a draw.

When will companies realise that we don't want to be entered into a draw for going to the time and trouble of completing these surveys?

Whenever I see a prize draw survey from any company, I delete it straight away.

If you can't do better than that Asda, then it's bye bye from me.

I'll only do one of the surveys if it's on he topic of their online grocery service. They messed my order up and the customer service was the verbal equivalent of a shoulder shrug! I signed up for the chosen by you panel too but haven't heard anything back.
July- coconut body shop body butter, pom bear football, mini johnsons lotion, Sally Hansen nail treatments
  • I don't know anyone who has ever had benefit from being on the panel - I have been on both the old one run until the end of last year and then signed up to the new one. I once got a phone call about something that got cancelled the day before (can't remember but think it was a focus group). I think the important thing is to know how many are on the panel - I've never seen anyone post that they had ever won anything in their 'prize' draw - I reckon there are near 10,000 members and if 1/2 of them are active you get diddly squat chance of winning a survey prize draw.

Very disappointed but what did you expect from the countrys biggest supermarket that's owned by a cash hungry American company - they aren't there to give anything for nothing and economies of scale in buying also probably means economies of scale in the size of it's survey panel. Will give it a while longer but compare this to the Waitrose panel and you'll see their worlds apart.

My daughter did her first online shop with Asda a few months ago. The quality of the fresh food was poor, they turned up late, an egg was broken....and when she phoned Asda to say that she was disappointed, she got the same kind of reaction - sorry about that, we hope you'll continue shopping with Asda. Well guess what, she no longer does.

When my daughter was poorly a couple of weeks ago, I foolishly did my online shop with Asda, only for the reason that they were selling large Ribenas for £1 instead of £2.67! I too was disappointed with my shop, use by dates were ridiculously close, bananas were bruised and soft, so were the apples.

Compare all this to Tesco, yes of course they will make mistakes too, but they wil reward you with a voucher if things aren't right. You can also leave comments against each item you buy, so I will put things like: latest use by date please, only ripe bananas etc. They are first class.

    Unlike Asda.

My daughter done a online shop with asda a couple of months ago after having major surgery. the driver was 4 hours late gave me the shopping. i told him most of it was missing he told me it was in the van and would go and get it. i stood there for 15 mins then went looking for him he was gone phoned asda they asked what i was missing said they would send it the next day. three days latter some of it turned up. DD tried to get a refund but gave up in the end as she was sick and they wouldnt deal with me as it was her account. never again.

why are people upset that they are only getting surveys and nothing to test? There was no mention of testing anything when you go into the t&c's

    Taken from the website:
What is an online research panel?
An online research panel is a community of individuals with similar interests, and experiences, who have voluntarily chosen to participate in online research studies about various topics related to their common interests.

What information is required to become a panel member?
A brief member profile is the only information required for joining the panel. Your member profile will include basic contact information and vital data such as gender, age, household composition, and education. This will help us to make your panel experience more relevant to you.

How long will I have to complete each survey?
You will typically have anywhere from 72 hours to one week to complete each survey.

How many surveys do I have to complete?
Asda encourage participation in as many studies as you are invited to take. For each study you complete you will be entered into a draw. Please see below for information about our monthly prize draws.

Will I be able to select the types of surveys in which I participate?
Yes. In the member profile, when you tell us about your lifestyle and interests, Asda will use that information to send you surveys that fit your preferences

Hi Sarah - I think that although it was always going to be a primarily survey driven panel I think the way they pitch it on their website leads you to believe otherwise - they talk about lots of testing on Fabric Conditioners on there at the moment and 100 consumers being involved in the selection and other aspects on their home page include quotes like:

With the launch of our new initiative Chosen by You, this community will be given unique access to products before they go into store. If you join in you’ll be able to have a big influence on purchasing decisions in Asda by being involved from the start rather than the end.

Although not explicit, this intimates that you may receive samples, be involved in the Fabric Conditioner type tests etc and then the appetite was whet when they said they had a special chosen by you survey to be involved in.

I am sure everyone knows what the information said at sign-up in black and white that you have pointed out above - I think it is the subliminaly misleading text that leads people to think they'll get more than just a 1 in ,000's chance of winning a spot survey prize that is disappointing.
