Can a Job Centre actually be open on saturday???!!

I phoned the local jobcentre today to re-schedule my jsa 1st interview sign-on, as i couldnt make it tomorrow (friday) cos it clashed with a hospital appointment.

But was told by the guy on the phone that my appointment had been rescheduled to 12.30 on saturday...:eek:

Ive never ever heard of a job centre being open on saturday,
and so this sounded very suspicious to me.

I dont want to ''not turn up'' and miss my appointment and so lose my money plus the last 2weeks of backdated jsa too...,
but i also dont want to waste my time and money getting the bus there just to find a closed buidling!

I looked online and it says there that my jobcentre is closed on saturday n sunday,
but has phoneline open for 'employers' betwen 10am -4pm on saturdays.

Anyone know if saturday openings actually exist though??

Or was the guy just trying to muck me around cos he was having crap day??:confused:

My Jobcentre is open on a Saturday now due to the increase in customers over the last few months, came as a bit of a shock to me as I had to do the same but I had plans that day which kind of messed them up :confused:signing on at the weekend, feel sorry for the people who get regular Saturday slots.

work for non-caller office of JCP. loads of caller offices opening saturday and some even opening sunday. Credit crunch - too many people to deal with during monday to friday. Good luck with signing.

    Ah ok, thankyou. :)

Theres no way i would accept a saturday slot for my sign-on though! lol

As it would totally fk-up going out clubbing on friday nights!

Im currently trying to find a religion that has its 'chuch' on saturday mornings though,
so i can make sure that il have a solid defence if they try slamming me with a saturday slot! ;)

If you have the money behind you to go out clubbing every Friday night should you even be signing on??

Maybe you should leave the taxpayer's money for someone who needs a little help while looking for another job.

How crass to say signing on for hand outs will inconvenience you

The amount of money us under 25s get for our LHA is absolutely ridiculous!!:mad::mad:

I have to combine ALL my JSA and ALL my LHA money to just pay my basic rent,
an endup with £5 left over!

Im ONLY able to go out clubbing every weekend, to be able to afford eat any food, to have electricty, and to pay all my phone/net/tv bills... ect
Because i use my own creativity to find other streams of income.

Not because i have it easy with loads of money from benefits being enough to cover my bills happily!

And have you declared these 'other streams of income' to the Job Centre?
