wepromiseto.co.uk & First Direct

Hi All,
first post so go easy one me
My problem is thus... I registered for a First Direct bank account through wepromiseto.co.uk and had a transaction tracked with the site for the stated cashback of £75. The transaction then validated a month or so later. 6 months on and I still hadn't been paid out so I raised a support ticket. After initially being told the payment was being cleared and would be paid into my account straight away, I checked my account history and saw the transaction had been marked as 'reversed'. On querying this I was the informed that (by the way I have copied this from the msg so pls excuse the poor spelling!):
Hi Justin,
Unfortunately it seems we have not been paid by this retailer for any transactions, and therefore we are unabel to pass this on to members. We apologise for any inconvenience and disappoitnment this may have caused you.
Regards,
Fiona
Has anyone else experienced this or indeed been paid out by wepromiseto? I must admit they do seem to be a bunch of scheisters... I made a purchase through Quidco with one.com and was paid within 2 months. With wepromiseto I am still waiting to be paid by them for a transaction with the same company. VERY FISHY!!
Interested in knowing what my rights are in querying this with retailer / cashback site.
Or am I just being greedy and naive?

Only ever used Quidco, but they've always paid out to date.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

NOWelcome to the huge and ever-growing club of people who have been conned by wepromiseto.
The one thing to know about wepromiseto is that they will never pay you any money.
It cost me £75 pounds and months of email exchanges to find this out.
Search the forums and you'll find many, many people who've learnt the same expensive lesson.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, it is an absolute disgrace that MSE continues to direct people to this scamming website. Martin Lewis needs to wake up, remove wepromiseto from the Cashback Maximizer and warn people to avoid it in his next MSE email.0 -

The only logical conclusion is they pay Martin.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

Hi,
after my last post I sent their rubbish support system ("we promise to respond to you in 24 hours") and after about 2 weeks I received an email to say I had received a reply... on clicking the link it took me to their site and an 'account deleted' page!
On one and I'm happy to be off their rubbish service.. on the other I'm amazed that their offering is so bad!!
PLEASE AVOID WEPROMISETO.CO.UK LIKE THE PLAGUE!
They are a real bunch of jokers and as a previous poster said; I can't believe that MSE keeps promoting them. Stick to Quidco folks... a truly great cashback site that deliver on their 'promises'.0 -
Hi,
I have had exactly the same as this with regards to wepromiseto and First Direct. I opened a First Direct account via the wepromiseto website and it tracked the purchase and allocated £75 cashback to my account. Trouble is that the £75 is constantly in 'validating' status and I have never received it. I have raised two help requests with them to be told told they will chase it, and have just raised a third today.
With regards to other people saying they are a scam...this is the only transaction they have failed to pay out. I have been a paid about a total of £70 in other cashback transactions through this website, its just this First Direct one that isn't being processed.
I will let you know if I get anywhere, but I am not holding out!0
