Pram - 20 months old and faulty

Hope some lovely MSEs can help me.
I have a 20 month old pram which has developed a serious fault with it's wheel. I bought it from Mothercare and they are saying that as it is outside their one year guarantee period they aren't required to do anything.
I've mentioned the Sale of Goods Act and the new european legislation and they have now agreed to send it away for a report. I know they'll come back and say that it is wear and tear and that I need to pay for the repair.
I reckon that a new pram should last a lot longer than 20 months. It hasn't been subjected to any unusual wear and tear abd I think that they should pay for the repair.
What can I do to get them to pay for it or failing that to claim my money back?
thanks a million for any advice,
Angela

i had the same problem with mothercare 15 year ago.they refused to do anything.after standing my ground they wanted to send it away. i asked them what i was supposed to use in the meantime to transport my child around.i also told them i had entrusted my childs safety in a mothercare product that failed me.luckily we had a shop in the area that was a registered company to repair the pushchair.mothercare arranged the repair0
