Urgent help needed- credit search on alias

Hi everyone,
I am a frequent reader but never posted before.
I recently got married and have been re-arranging my finances since.
I have never had any financial problems before and never missed or defaulted on a payment and have a reasonably good salary.
Anyway, today I ordered my credit report and noticed that I have 11 alias enteries which seems ridiculous as I have only changed my name once i.e. when I got married. 8 of the alias entries are for one entry by Nationwide which seems to have been duplicated 8 times even though it was one entry. A couple of the other alias arise as I work as a doctor and 2 of the entries are Mrs and one Dr. I always apply as Dr if I get the choice but sometimes it is not given as an option. Would anyone know what impact this many alias has on a report and what I can do to rectify it as I have only actually had two names- the one I have now and my maiden name.
I also noticed a search by RBS back in May which is when I got Tesco home insurance. I paid an annual payment and therefore did not enter into a credit agreement with them and therefore I don't understand why they would have ran a credit search.
Finally, I applied for an e-isa with first direct late in september and then a 1st account at the beginning of october and I noticed I have 4 searches- 2 HSBC ones and 2 first direct ones. Would anyone have any idea why the HSBC search has been done as well as first direct?
Anyway, sorry it is such a long one but I would be grateful for any information.
Thanks

Insurers run a credit search as a risk assessment in calculating your premium, rather than verifying your ability to pay the premium by instalment.
You may find that first direct / HSBC performed more than one search, one as an Identity check, one as a "check to comply with anti-money laundering regulations", and another as a full search to ensure you are not legally restricted from holding a savings account for example due to a Bankruptcy order.
I would imagine that most of these searches wouldn't affect your credit score, only certain types of search "footprint" your report. Those associated with savings accounts and insurance quotations shouldn't
Re: Dr/Mrs, what do you appear on the electoral role as? If Mrs then refrain from using DR atall, if DR, then what you are doing is correct.
I'm sure NID or Moggles will correct me if I've slipped up anywhere!Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Thanks for the reply- that information has been useful.
I was on as Miss on my previous address for seven years but when I moved when I got married I applied as Dr now.
Would it be better for me to write to anyone I have a credit agreement with and get them to change any Mrs to Dr? I only have 3 credit agreements- which is one mobile phone, one credit card and one graduate overdraft.0 -

I spoke with Credit Expert today because my file was all over the place due to my change of name. Those alias don't impact the file that I've noticed, but I do have a one for anytime the lender reports to my file. 12 in total.
If you use credit expert they said to return a form to them for change of name and they will send out to credits letting them know. Mine already do, but just thought that might help save you a job.0
