i read this thread with interest.
at work we must now communicate only by phone [unless in very extreme cases and believe me ive had the best possible cause for communicating via post and sending a paper claim which my LA have now banned]
when we phone people we introduce ourselves and ask if they are mr or mrs so-and-so and before we can go any further can they give us their DOB/NINO/1st line of their address. for security and to ensure we are speaking to them.
which is all well and good but some people dont wish to share this information with us over the phone which makes it difficult for us but we totally understand this.
i dont share my info with anyone until they have made themselves clear who the hell they are and they have to be a company i personally deal with [personal loan companies]
even then how do we know?
what would people think of LA's and creditors confirming a password on an account? like virgin media have with me?
good idea/
soz, probably totally off topic but in this day and age why not/There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -

I've been asked these questions by people phoning me and I don't understand how answering proves anything about who you are. Everyone in our house knows these facts about each other as do some of our friends and other family members. I don't think any of them would pretend to be us but that may not be the case in other households.0
