Invoicing, what do I need to know?

I've agreed to write a few articles for a company website and need to invoice the company. I've only ever sold via Ebay etc. previously so it's never been an issue. Basically, what do I need to know/put on - what are the legal requirements (if any) for what you put on an invoice?
(I'm not VAT registered as not making enough HA! sorry, the very thought is funny. Just to say that's not an issue).

Your or company name & address.
Date of writing invoice
Details of good/service (& dates too of service or delivery) Amount0 -
terms of payment ie when inoice is due by.
methods of payment. ie. bank details for BACS etc..0 -
The most important details are who the invoice is for, requiring a valid full name, company name and address. Invoice number so you can keep track of your sales.0

Not sure if it too late but an Invoice must say "Invoice" for it to be valid and must have your name and Address and show that it is requesting payment in sterling.Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p0

Put a small reminder on their and mention that payment is "required in X amount of days". Stop them from wriggling out of payments as much as possible.0 -
it might be an idea to get some form of written agreement from the company that they accept your terms and conditions , especially as regards to what you will be charging them .
Always find out the name of the person responsible for passing payment of your invoices , when they are likely to pay and whether they need a statement of account from you before paymentVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -
This is what you are probably looking for:

You can do all of the above and still get paid late
But we can but try, it's important though if legal proceedings are undertaken in the future.0
