Reinforcing a Double Glazed uPVC Door?

My back door is double glazed uPVC, it has 2 glass panels, divided by a horizontal bar, there are also small glass panels to the side and above it. Testing with a magnet suggests that the door and window frames are metal inside.
I'm wondering what the best way to reinforce this door is? I could have wrought iron bars made up for the door and side window, and scrww them into the metal frame. Alternatively I could replace the glass panels with solid ones. The glass panels are held in place by clip-in beading on the inside of the door/window.
Anyone have any other good ideas?

Is there a reason you need to do this ? I suppose it would eb easier to install a security gate (as there called in south africa) But i thought that Upvc doors were pretty dam strong to start with.If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

Most of the door is glass, which is anything but strong.0

The industry have been "reviewing" the security of upvc doors for two years now after burglars discovered a security flaw in them. The so called high security five point locking system can be easily bypassed with the aid of a small everyday tool.As news travels fast I would guess that your local burglars will already know this.....they certainly do in Glasgow
Invest in a decent burglar alarm..!!
