Credit note for faulty item?

Hi there
I Bought two bolts from B&Q recently. We didnt fit them until yesterday. OH fitted the first one and it sheared off as soon as it was used...therefore no good! we looked at the other one and it was obvious where the fault was.
We took them back to B&Q and asked for our money back..they offered us a credit note. I didnt want a credit note i wanted my money. We didnt have the receipt so they said we couldnt have our money back as we had no evidence to say that we had paid cash and not by card for the items. I said that was if we changed our mind....these things were faulty...
No...
No
No...
Ok...i took the credit note. We got something else (not bolts) and it was 12p less than the credit note
GUESS WHAT?
yes....we were given a 12p credit note.
Was this right?

You had no proof of purchase so you have no right under the SOGA hence the credit note is probably a good outcome for you.0

Looks like you actually got a good deal there. Legally, without proof of purchase, they don't have to do anything...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Ditto the above, would have been funny seing you have a hissy fit in B&Q about 2 bolts tho!!! lol0

Why were you so insistant on cash anyway? you bought another thing from B&Q, so the credit note didn't go to waste...
The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

You went all the way back to B+Q for the sake of 12p, must have cost you alot more in time and petrol etc :rotfl:0
