Euro's - Would you buy at this rate?

I have phoned my local travel agents for a price on Euros as I am spending £600 in sterling on Euro cash and have been told they will give me 1.43 to the £ so i have asked them to keep some for tomorrow as they have ran out for today.
I am not going on holiday until the end of June and I just wondered is it worth buying at 1.43 or would you wait in case the rate rises but they told me that when the kids are off school the rates will drop and i wont be given a rate like this
Any advice?

Make sure that they wont charge commission, seems a good rate.
Depends where your going,I usually get mine out there(Mallorca).
You gain a bit, enough for a beer or 2,depending how much your changing up.
If you or anyone decide to change up overthere,DO IT BEFORE 1pm or w/ends & B/Hols,.
Most of the Change shops are good.
The Banks sometimes charge a fee.0 -

They said it was commission free, am going to Tenerife for 2 weeks
I was also told about the American Express travellers cheque card which is commission free until the end of the month and they will give 1.42 to the £ but you have to pay around a £1.50 charge for every withdrawel from an ATM but on the other hand travellers cheques you get charged to change into cash so don't know what to do about that I was going to get £400 on it.
I would take my switch card but I could not be bothered with the hassle if I lost it or anything happened to it0 -
Is there any commission or other charge from the travel agent?
You can buy online from M&S and they don't charge commission or postage (on orders over £500) - their rate is 1.429 which will work out about 40p more for £600. I can't help on what will happen with the rates but I hadn't heard rate movements blamed on the school holidays before...Not even wrong0 -

They didn't mention any commission or other charges and I said I was paying on my switch card instead of taking the cash in and they said Iwould only pay charges if I purchased travellers cheques but for the rest I would not incur any charges but I will double check before completing the sale in the shop0 -
I don't see on the website where it says free postage?Twopints wrote:Is there any commission or other charge from the travel agent?

Hi guys. I've got a friend in Ireland who is sending some money across to me. Being Euro's, I know that fee's will be payable. I've seen Western Union and Paypal mentioned on various threads - with mixed reviews. Before they send it across to me has anyone got any tips? I'm a Lloyds customer (at the moment!)'Money can't buy you happiness, but it does bring you a more pleasant form of misery'0
