Dodgy Caravan??

I recently bought a 1991 elddis storm caravan. It said in the advert it was in excellent condition throughout, we went to view and everything seemed ok. The dealer we purchased it from assured us that it would be checked to make sure all the appliances were working before we collected it the next weekend. I left him a deposit and went back the weekend after to pick it up, paying the rest of the balance on that day.
We towed it home and put it into a building. A couple of weeks later we took into a caravan service centre to make sure everything was ok as we were going away in it the following weekend. I left it at 9 on the morning and at 2pm the service engineer rang me to explain there were problems with it. He listed several things but the main problem was the A Frame was coming away from the caravan body making it unsafe to use or tow. I immediately rang the dealer we bought it from and explained what we had been told on the report. His 1st reaction was the caravan service man was touting for business. I then recommend that he rings the caravan service man which he said he would, but never did. I rang back again today and he said he would repair the caravan but we needed to tow it back to his dealership which is over 60 miles away, the service man had told us previous to this it is NOT to be towed!
He has refused point blank to collect it, but as it is unsafe i cannot take it to him myself.
Does anyone have any advice on this situation and what my rights are? The caravan is not fit for the purpose sold to me.
Thanks

Sorry I cant be much help but I would suggest a visit to your local citizens advice and if they cant help they would suggest a solicitor in the area who gives a half hour consultation free.
A complaint to trading standards might help also as there is a good possibility the dealer has committed a offence selling a vehicle that is unroadworthy."The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."
