    nope, didn't look anything up, just got on with it. That one, SIL showed me a picture and I thought "I can do better than that....and cheaper too!" so she said go for it and that was the result.

    It's dead easy, honestly.

    You need the roses, flower tape, extra leaves (get a sprig type thing with lots and just cut them off!) and the bear grass/pearl strings/other things that you'll have sticking out.

    Get one rose, take the little leaf off it (cause it's a bit pants on the foam roses TBH) and on your first rose, the centre rose, tape 3 leaves at equal distances apart, around the head of the rose, so that you have a rose, then 3 leaves around it.

    Add one leaf to each rose after that.

    The 2nd layer (as the single rose is your first layer) comprises of 6 roses, sorta like a hexagon. Tape them either one by one around the first stem, or all together - whichever you're more comfortable doing. Add the beargrass or anything you're using instead of bear grass afterwards.

    Repeat the porocess for 2 more layers. Add extra leaves as required under the bottom layer.

    Use ribbon to cover the stems and a lace doyle typ thing or just ribbon, underneath.

    Honestly, the first one I did was with wooden roses and had about 6 layers!
    It really is very easy to do and flower tape won't damage the stems, so if you make a mess, just pull it apart and start again!
    If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!

    After seeing an article in Woman and Home magazine, I think I've decided that I'd like to go down the Silk Flower route. Her designs are exquisite http://www.rtfactflowers.co.uk/index.htm

    I've shown her the design of the bouquet I have had my eye on (since I got engaged) and depending on the quality of the flowers, is likely to cost between £200-500 - which I think is pretty good (but still very expensive), for something that I'll always be able to look at and remember my wedding day.

    The only thing is, the price is just for the bouquet and I'm wondering what to do about other flowers - hopefully the venue will just suffice with Holly, Ivy and Mistletoe, a big Christmas tree and a select few Amarylis and Poinsettia, so that leaves me with buttonholes (of people want them??) and maybe my bridesmaid.

    How much are you spending on bouquets, arrangements, bridesmaids and table centres?

    Wow! Those silk flowers are amazing! They look so real.

    We're probably only spending about £20-£30! We're making our own felt flowers - I saw the idea from someone on here & loved the idea as neither of us wanted to carry a bouquet, so we decided on wrist corsages - these are some examples of the bouquets that inspired us;

    We're making the flower girls wrist corsages too & time depending, would like to make some for button holes aswell!

    These are some we've made so far;

    We're also using some around the cakes, attached with florist pins, but we're not having flowers on the tables etc.

    How about having some ivy/holly/poinsetta hand tied as a bridesmaid bouquet? Whoever dresses the venue may be able to do it?

    Yeah they really do! I spoke to her yesterday and said she could make all executive decisions, so she's sorting it out and contacting me early next week with a price. I was awake (feeding the baby) in the middle of the night and then got all scared she's going to charge me a fortune!

    That's a great idea, my sister (and both SILs) are all pretty crafty so I might get one of them to make something. There's no one dressing the venue for us - we'll be doing it all.

    Hi Lydia,

    I paid about £175 for mine. That was for:-

    My Bridal Shower Bouquet
    3x Bridesmaid bouquets
    10 Buttonholes
    4 corsages
    1 top table decoration
    4 round table decorations

    Mine were all silk from a lady on ebay and although they dont feel real, they feel ok and no one noticed they werent real (if they did they didnt say anything to me) lol. There are pictures on here somewhere, let me know if you want me to find them or repost them for you
