After seeing an article in Woman and Home magazine, I think I've decided that I'd like to go down the Silk Flower route. Her designs are exquisite http://www.rtfactflowers.co.uk/index.htm

I've shown her the design of the bouquet I have had my eye on (since I got engaged) and depending on the quality of the flowers, is likely to cost between £200-500 - which I think is pretty good (but still very expensive), for something that I'll always be able to look at and remember my wedding day.

The only thing is, the price is just for the bouquet and I'm wondering what to do about other flowers - hopefully the venue will just suffice with Holly, Ivy and Mistletoe, a big Christmas tree and a select few Amarylis and Poinsettia, so that leaves me with buttonholes (of people want them??) and maybe my bridesmaid.

How much are you spending on bouquets, arrangements, bridesmaids and table centres?

Total cost of flowers for the whole wedding: £ 90

£75 for my bouquet, simple hand-tied pink roses with pink ribbon and approx £15 for dried rosebuds to scatter on the tables for the meal. My OH would never hate it if I insisted he wear a button hole, so there will be no button holes, for practical reasons (I moved too far away from them) I'm not having any bridesmaids, and the reception venue has a very light/airy/funky feel and doesn't really need any extra decoration.
I'm sure others can probably beat it, but I reckon thats pretty MSE

I had real flowers and spent £187 on the lot.

I had a larger hand tied display for myself which contained red gerbra, white alstomeria, red hypericum berries and euclyptus leaves.

2 smaller displays using white gerbras with black centres and the rest the same.

    3 Ladies corsages

6 mens button holes these were both white grebs with hypericum berries on grooms and ladies.

    2ft top table display.

If you want to look at how they panned out go to the 'another new mrs in the house thread' for link to my wedding pics.

I had artificial flowers from Ebay (Flowers by Sara) teardrop bridal bouquet, 3 bridesmaids posies, 12 buttonholes, 2 mother of the bride corsages, a tabletop arrangement for the register table and 12 pew end ribbons. All ivory roses and pink orchids. They were really lovely and all of the guests I spoke to were extremely shocked that they were fake (including one guest who used to be a florist). So I was really pleased with them.

I've done my own inc all the bridesmaids. Pics to follow. This is the one I did for SIL.

I've got 10 bridesmaids and the flowers cost me about £50 in total from hobbycraft.

Foxxymynx, that bouquet is beautiful - look forward to seeing the pictures of yours!
  • So far I have spent £10 on my flowers! I am getting some Holly from friends gardens for my registrars table and going to add a few red rose heads to it, I have seen some in the range with glitter on which are £1 for four heads, so it would cost me another £2. xxx

    thank you.

Mine is finished but I still have 3 posies left to do. Once they're done and the favours are done, I'll take pics and post them ;) (probably next weekend-ish)

    Hi Foxxy,

Your bouquet is beautiful, is there a website you used to show you how to do it or is that just natural skill? :j
