Indestructible cat flap - is there such a thing?

  • We have had many cat flaps - all broken because our 2 dogs liked to stick their head through to see if we were en route to feeding them!

After many Staywells and other makes, we finally installed a 'Catwalk' plastic cat flap. This is a simple 4-way lock - not a magnetic colar, though they may well make the 'locked' version as well.

The flap is about the size of a Staywell, but has a step in the moulding that seems to strenghten the bottom of the fram somewhat. Anyway, it has been installed for 4 - 5 years and is still as good as new.

    Good luck.

Btw this thread is from 2009....

I hope my cat flap stays intact. One of my cats charges at it when it is locked hoping that it will let her out. She runs full speed at it and headbutts it and so far it has held out against her.

we had a cat flap in our back door until our mastiff tried to get through it, after that we just had half a back door.
