Checking Notes Instore

With the rise in counterfeit notes, its understandable that stores take extra precautions when checking banknotes, but the cashier at the Tesco Express in Hove took the biscuit this morning, holding the £20 note up to the light and turning it over a good ten times, before putting it in the till.
It took a good 5 mins for the cashier to decide it was a genuine note! The funny thing was I had just withdrawn it from the machine outside the store!
When handed my change holding the fiver up to the light and checking it a good ten times before putting it in my wallet caused a little bit of offence! You checked mine, I'm checking yours! :rotfl:

It's helps stop a classic scam when passing counterfeit notes. See my previous post on this matter.I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0

Well as its offence to hand over fake notes if a store gets stuck with one they obviously have to asorb the costs. On a summer job I was presented with a ten pound note that was printed using a dot matrix pritner.0 -
'The Tesco retail juggernaut today announced record-breaking sales of more than £1bn a week and better than expected annual profits of more than £3bn despite the impact of the global downturn.
The shares rose 16p to 348p as the supermarket chain announced profits of £3.13bn for the 53 weeks to 28 February'
I'm sure Tesco are really struggling, and we should do everything we can to help them during these difficult times.:rotfl:

I meant to add that its the underpaid staff that will lose out for taking a fake note. You can be rest assured Tesco wouldn't soak up that loss.0 -

Something tells me you didn't quite take my posting in the spirit in which it was intended.Official SOS Club number 011 - Dry until 17/11/20090 -
This practice of 'Holding a 20 note in the air' is 'Ancient'
I have a p/time bookstall and NONE of my regular or irregular customers hold notes up into the air!!
People haven't done this for years now, Just like bump starting cars that 'Is not seen to be done also'
All you have to do to check a note is RUB YOUR THUMB OVER THE QUEENS HEAD ETC.
If it feels rough then it's Genuine if it feels smooth and the paper feels too new or looks too shiny then it is a Fake.
In the past 'some' people took 'Offence' if you stood in public holding up notes into the air!!
Thought the supermarkets had a machine nowadays?Thomson 757 Man0 -
