Suspension

My private seller account has been suspended "for a minimum of 3 days". Anyone know how long that might be in practice - is it actually 3 days? My "crime" appears to be leaving someone a (deserved imo) neg, but it appears they have a hotline to eBay

    What did they do wrong.

I've emailed back asking for details of what eBay believe I did wrong. I'd rather have it in writing than speak to them on the phone.

Meanwhile, I have active listings and parcels to post on my business account - I assume that it's OK to continue to service this account? The warning on my private seller account (actually mine & my husband's joint buying account) said "suspended from using eBay at all"

If one account's suspended, all of them are, whether they show it or not. So using one after getting a ban is a bad idea and could result in you getting a permanant ban from all of ebay's services.

OK, thanks Dave - I shall have to stay off then until this is resolved. Unfortunately I logged on to my business account this morning before I checked my email and found the message about the other account. Hopefully eBay will realise that was a genuine mistake. I'll just check PayPal for any purchases - not sure how I will send dispatch notices but hopefully it won't matter for 3 days - IF it's only 3 days.

You can add postage info through paypal- that should mark it as despatched, and of course you have the buyers email addresses if you need them. :)

    Good luck with it.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

Thanks TD, good suggestion. Do you have to buy postage through PayPal for that to work, or can you just mark it?

I double-checked my emails again, and the one addressed to my business account says "We realise you may not be aware of this rule. We respectfully request that you refrain from this activity in the future. Repeated breaches of this or another policy may result in the suspension of your eBay membership.". So now I'm more confused, as that seems to suggest that the business account is not suspended. But I think I'll play it safe and wait it out anyway.

Not sure, sorry- we nearly always just use paypal postage.

Logically it should work, but this is a ebay service so who knows?

  • You can mark items as 'posted' via Paypal without having to buy the postage thu them. Do it from your My Account summary tab and use the drop down list next to the item rather than via the item transaction screen - especially useful if you dont have any tracking info. Paypal then email the buyer automatically.

I didn't realise you could be suspended for leaving a negative. On what grounds?

Possibly buying something from someone who left you negative just so you can leave them negative? I think the OP needs to tell us a bit more than they are!
