Virgin Credit Cards

Hey.
A few years ago, I took out a Virgin Credit card and about 6 months later I took out a Virgin atlantic credit card.
Payment protection was purchased, yet now I wish it wasn't as I am not able to claim on it and it is pointless, yet It was hardly mis-sold as I did it over the internet. Doubt I can claim it back? Any advice here?
Anyhow main reason for the thread is this.
A while back, I rang up to cancel the payment protection after I was unable to claim. Found the whole process crap and time consuming and basicly couldn't claim, so tried to cancel the insurance. Went through to a cancellation team who stated they had canceled both cards insurance.
Left it as that and carried on paying off the debt, which is £2000 on each card. About £50 a month.
Recently looked at the account online to make a payment (as I had canceled the monthly DD as I was made redundant from work. And noticed the PPI was still being paid on both accounts. A bit confused I rang them up, and the lady I spoke to was rather rude and stated that there where no records or calls saying I rang in to cancel the insurance. Basicly I got a bit angry as she made me out to be a liar, yet I know I rang and cancelled it as I remember being transffered etc.
She said why didn't you check your online statement each month and see it still going out? I answered that the account was on Direct debit and my life is too busy to warrant time to check the account to make sure your company had done the job I asked originaly. (Basicly my payment went out monthly by DD and that was that)
Simply getting frustrated we ended the call but basicly I have been paying months of PPI that I cannot claim on anyway since inception and then I find out Ive still been paying it after I requested it canceled.
What can I do here? Can I make a formal complain and request all premiums to be refunded due to their incompetance or what do you suggest I do? I dont kn ow the dates I called in the past as I never kept notes though I wish I had.

Any help at all?
I did speak with another advisor yesterday. She informed its still not cancelled and couldn't cancel as they cancellation team was not in, (after5pm)0 -
I suggest you go to PPI board (on a right handside, top quarter of the page "forum jump" scroll down and pick PPI board)
There is lot of advice about missold PPI (which I think it was if what you say happened), how to claim it back and where to find prepared letters...0 -

I took the card out online, I dont think I can say it was missold...my concern is the request to cancel the insurance, yet it was never done.0 -

Call again, take their name and exact time & date and if still not cancelled write to financial ombudsman? threaten them with it at your first call as well??0 -
I'd call back during business hours with as much patience as you can muster and explain, once again, that your PPI has not been cancelled.
CSAs are used to customers being impatient, nasty even. They're ten a penny. OTOH, if you disarm 'em with charm, you're more likely to get the desired result.
As above, keep a record of dates, times and member(s) staff involved from here on.
If you ring Virgin Card Services on 01244 673700, you'll avoid the perishing 0870 numbers
