    Bump for you

I guess it may depend on how big the tank is and whether the weight is spread or whether there are only a few contact points with the base

Mine is a 2000 litre tank and the base is about 10 inches thick but I really have no idea if that was engineered or just guess work
  • Ours will be an 1800lt tank and I`ve discovered that base should be at least 50mm thick and extend beyond widest part of tank by at least 300mm all way round .
To be safe I`m going to make mine 300mm deep as 50mm seems pretty flimsy and no-one seems to know how deep pipe should be so I`ll put it at 300mm deep also to keep things simple .

I believe that it's supposed to be buried 24inches (60cm) belw ground.

Mine ended up abut 20 inches as it's a lot of soil to dig!

Oh - d while I remember it should be laid in sharp sand and ideally something laid over it to protect it e.g. tanalised timber laths or tiles. (It is plastic covered copper pipe I trust!)

The usual method seems to be to use a few paving slabs bedded on concrete. The concrete is mixed and laid dry as moisture from the soil will cure it. On ours there is about 50mm thickness of concrete.
