Asda online groucery shopping.

Just a word of warning,
When you purchase groceries on-line at Asda.com the price on your conformation
e-mail may not be the price you actually pay. So if you buy something say for
£1 and although you are so called charged £1 on the conformation e-mail, if the
price goes up before the item/items are delivered say £1.50 you will be charged
the new dearer price as it is in store on the day of delivery regardless of the price
you thought you had paid. All in the terms and conditions apparently.
Totally unfair in my eyes.:cool:

    Hi,
    I understand that it can be frustrating to think you have got a bargain but it turns out not to be when the shopping turns up, but this information is clearly stated on the 'shopping list' screen on the right hand side whilst you are doing your shopping;

    "Please note that these prices are for guidance only.
    You will be charged the in-store price of all available items on the day they are delivered."

    You are perfectly within your rights to give items back to the driver if the price has gone up and you don't want to pay it. And I know this can be tricky with a big shop but that's all there is for it.

    Poster above just said it says it clearly. Also you get told it several times during check out and your confirmation email says it. As the poster above says if your unhappy with the price you can hand anything you don't want back. Also Tesco brings it up a warning in bright red letters if any of the items you have brought the offers end before the date of delivery giving you the option of changing the delivery date or changing the item.
    The point you have to rememeber is when you place your order it is stored until someone does the shop on your behalf on the day of delivery when those prices apply.
    I personally think its better especially with my Tesco on-line shopping. As my local Tesco is a meduim size one while the one that does on-line shopping is huge so has much more choice than my local one so I get stuff on-line I would never get in store. Also its very rare any thing is bruised and if it is you just phone up and complain and they give you a refund and let you keep it. Also if you notice its bruised when its delivered you always have the option of giving it back to the driver who for us normally just deletes it off the shopping so we don't pay for it and tells us to put in the bin for him with a wink.

    It is pretty clear on the site. You know when you are doing your shopping and putting your items in the basket, and the basket appears on the left hand side with all the items, prices and a running total at the bottom? After this running total is where I got the text from which I posted previously. But I suppose if you don't tend to look at the running total as you shop, rather just see the total price at the checkout, then you probably wouldn't see it.

    Have just logged on to Tesco to see what theirs says and the running total is called 'Guide Price' then there's a clicky called 'About the Guide Price' and it says the following;

    "Please note that the prices on our Grocery website are guide prices only.
    The actual price you pay is the price charged in store when your order is put together for delivery. This is because:
    • The prices of some products may vary between when you place your order and when it is delivered.
    • Your Personal Shopper may weigh items like fruit and vegetables or pick pre-packed weighed items like meat, poultry and cheese. This means the price will vary slightly in store from what is on the website.
    • Some items in your order may not be available at the the time of picking and therefore may need to be substituted.
    Any special offers i.e. 'Buy One Get One Free' are not highlighted in your website basket, but will be deducted from your bill on the day of your delivery if the offer is still applicable.
    All prices are expressed inclusive of any VAT payable unless otherwise stated. The rate of VAT is 15%. Click here for more information on what VAT is and how we are passing the saving on to you.
    Exceptions are toys, games, DVDs, CDs, cookware, stationery, homewares, electrical and accessories, batteries and other hardlines where the prices are expressed at VAT of 17.5% online but the full savings will be passed on to you when you receive your order.
    When your order is delivered you may return any item and receive a full refund if you consider that the difference between the price charged and the guide price shown on the Grocery website is unacceptable. "

    Thanks for your replies, ive no doubt ive missed the guide only price, but i think they should make it clearer on their home page similar as someone said like Tesco do. I wont be using them again all the same, Still think the price you agree on should be the price you pay regardless if the price goes up or down for that matter. have checked my conformation e-mail and no where on it does it say guide price only. Still live and learn.:cool:

    But you need to remember when you do your shopping on-line your just giving them a shopping list not actually ordering anything. Its when the shopper does the shopping that the order is actually placed and the total price decided.

    Ocado are probably the only exception. As the goods come from a warehouse and not the shop, the price you are charged is what you are quoted when you shop.

    In my experience they never have substitutions, the quality is excellent, the same I would pick myself. A few weeks ago I ordered all the ingredients for my Sunday road to be delivered the same day, between 10 and 11am, and it worked perfectly well.

    When I shop with Tesco, for the price and also because there is stuff that Ocado don't stock, I know it's hit and miss and can't relay on anything from them. The have lots of substitutions, they always ignore your preferences and they often substitute with stuff that does not make any sense.
    The product is not always the best, it's just whatever they grab in a hurry, so I don't buy meat, or delicate fruit from them. And I would not even dream of buying eggs (did once, they broke. The Ocado lady even checked them before giving them to me...).

    Ocado is expensive, but as I don't get temped to buy anything in site as if I went in a shop, it's not too bad for me.
    I would use Tescos more often if the bleeding voucher codes I find worked.... :mad:
