Utility salesmen taking advantage of confused grandparents

Options
Hi Moneysavers!

My grandparents have very bad memories and get confused easily. From looking at their paperwork we can see that they keep alternating between different energy companies very quickly (sometimes in as often as every week). I think this is because the salesmen knock on their door and convince them to swap over.

The same happens with their telephone account ping-ponging between BT and various other companies. BT Charge approx £80 for every time they cut short their contract. So its starting to be expensive!

Apparently even putting the accounts in my mums name wont make a difference!

Has anyone got any ideas, its causing a lot of stress?

Thanks

Andy

If the accounts are in your mother's name, it should stop any of these rogues switching supply.

If your Mother then writes to the existing chosen supplier explains and tells them that the account must not be switched without her permission, they should put a note on the account.

Also if your mother writes to BT they might refund previous cancellation charges.
