Is it just me...........................

or is there an influx of new ebayers about?

I am finding lots of 'new' ebayers bidding on my stuff and either

a. not paying
b. having Paypal problems
c. not understanding 'Ship to UK only' - i.e. not Belgium!

Its driving me nuts! Also, OH bought something off a newbie - he paid immediately via Paypal. I happened to notice that the payment hadn't gone through so messaged the seller - they didn't even have a Paypal account (yet had entered their email address) and I had to talk them thru setting it up!!!

Have just added a buy it now for a buyer on one of my items and they keep asking me why I've not sent an invoice. Um, cos you haven't won the auction yet  She wins the auction after me instructing her how to do it and when I go to send an invoice I can't cos she's paid already (thank God)

Rant over now but it's really getting on my wick - I'm sure eBay was never this much hassle in the past!

  • I had someone with 0 feedback buy 12 graphic novels from me last night, using "Buy it Now". Hooray I thought, nice sale, combined postage for them and everything.

Then awoke to an e-mail from them this morning simply saying "Please cancel my order because I am unable to pay the amount."

    That was fun

It's odd but I really don't have problems with new buyers, I find they are usually eager to do it all right and pay quickly and get their goods. My problems seem to be always with those in the 'teens' for feedback, show me anyone with 11-19 feedback and I can pretty much expect issues.

Ugh, just had three (THREE) ppl ask if I will ship to Poland / Italy / USA and how much , despite the fact that all my auctions these days have "UK shipping only".

AS long as your seller preferences are set in the correct three places then ignore them as they can't bid anyway.

It's so frustrating - I feel like putting down 'If you have less than 10 feedbacks please contact me before bidding' but like you say Soolin the last one I had problems with was 21 stars.

The most annoying one was someone who waited for the last 10 mins of the auction, offered me £5 less than start price, informed them I would let auction end as can't revise in last 24hrs, auction ends (without a bid), contacted me to ask me if I would accept the lesser amount. Relisted with lower buy it now, they won it straightaway but haven't paid - a problem with Paypal apparently!

You couldn't enforce it anyway. I find new ebayers pay quickly and are courteous I have far less problems with them than ebayers with 2 or 300 feedback. Also how do you know if its a new ebayer or someone who has just set up a buying account?

Oh trust me- they never bother even if you do, we had that in our listings for ages, not once did they contact. In the end we figured that the dumb ones won't contact anyway, and it might put off the good ones.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p

I don't know but its the fact they dont seem to have a clue what they are doing! I know we all have to learn somewhere but I take the time to read up on stuff before I go ahead.

I only have 2 feedback, but my paypal is set up, and I do pay on time. What's the point of bidding if you can't pay?

stroll on 21-50 when i can start a NPB on someone who bid in last 30mins of auction finish and who has ignored 2 invoices and a polite message asking them to let me know if they have sent cheque or postal order so i can look out for it in the post
