Not sure if this has been noticed here before, but if you join Marks and Spencers 'Premium Club' you get travel insurance for two worldwide included, up to the age of 80!
The Premium Club is open to M7S Credit card holders, and costs £10 a month, but you get free drink vouchers for their cafe which just about cover this, and 'presents' as well ( I just got a £15 scarf) at various times.
I suggest it's worth a look!

My dad has one of these and has kept a tally on how much he has saved. It works well for him!
He gives me the cafe vouchers and he told me I could have the scarf voucher!

You really to work try and work out how much you will use with one of these.
My recovery (with AutoAid) was £35 and I get free travel insurance at work, so I tend to find these things are expensie for me as I wouldn't get the benefit.
However if you are going to use many of the benefits then it can work out very well.0 -

Terry - M&S' regular travel insurance is through AXA - be aware AXA are the cause of some terrible horror stories when a claim happens. If this is an AXA policy take a close look at the T&C's and see the vast loopholes designed to get AXA out of paying any claim.
AXA is my pet hate on here - I want to say I work daily with their claims and assistance people but that is not true, I work hard to get claims paid, they don't work!C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

The premium club policy is also underwritten by Axa.
Maybe you could point out these vast loopholes for us:

Sorry Quentin, I was not avoiding this - I was not aware you had made the comment.
1. In the link - this axa booklet -
We will pay you up to £10,000,000 for the followingunforeseen bodily injury or illnes
expenses which are necessarily incurred within 12
months of the incident as a result of your suffering
12 months??? US law allows the medical provider 7 years to pursue you the patient and take any leal action - AXA wait 366 days and hey presto they have a "get out of paying" clause.
This includes, with the prior authorisation of the Emergency Assistance Service
This is mentioned several times - all they say is no, hey presto they have a "get out of paying" clause
if it is medically necessary.
I have had many cases where they have denied as "not medically necessary" as they put it, easy to say after it is already done. What is considered medically necessary by the treating doctor should be just that - not Axa's decision = another "get out of paying" clause
Guess what - if anyone wants to finds more loopholes then thay can read on - but remember also Quentin has given just one policy document, Axa have thousands! Please read your policy and make sure you are covered, DON'T BELEIVE ANYONE HERE - INCLUDING ME - FIND OUT YOURSELF ABOUT YOUR COVER.C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

Thats a common wording in most travel policies, it actually means that if you have a valid medical claim during your trip they will pay for medical bills for up to twelve months. For instance if you were involved in a serious car accident in the USA and were hospitalised for twelve months they would pay all the bills but would stop paying medical bills after the 365th day. It has nothing do do with them not paying their debts once they are over a year old

Funny thing is, I heard that AXA just got an award for best insurer ... by car repair garages! Guess that means they're willing to pay out quite handsomely once you've proved the claim but not a penny before. They might do better paying out more claims and saving money by investigating the car repair shops better - I read the report and these companies are making absolutely huge profit margins!
AXA certainly has awful policies and T&Cs but they brand, rebrand and underwrite to avoid too much bad press in one area. If you read swiftcover insurance reviews they read pretty much like AXA ones ... because they are AXA. They've also stopped calling it "AXA Sun Life" replacing the ads with "SunLife Direct".
As for the value of a £120 a year customer loyalty card - I'm pretty sure I can get (better) travel insurance, (better) cups of coffee and a (better) scarf for less than that.I've been making animations for my daughter. Tell me what you think? Search for "Where are you Pickles?" and "Pickles and the Bully" on YouTube.

That's hard to swallow. We discussed this during the exchange when I pointed out to you that just because you have to chase them for money in your role as a debt collector doesn't mean they are bad! (And if insurance companies paid up on time there would be no need for debt collectors to be employed to chase them!)

The clause you have quoted is standard (though AXA's 12 months is better than some) - eg the (USA based) AIG's clause states a six-month period in its UK travel insurance policies:AIG wrote:We will pay you or your legal representatives for the following necessary emergency expenses which you incur either for a journey within six months of the incident or for a one-way trip within the first 17 days of arriving at your final destination. And your other point saying AXA refuse non emergency claims goes for all travel insurance! This thread is discusing the M+S policy, so why put this:FH_Brit wrote:remember also Quentin has given just one policy document, Axa have thousands! You clearly have an axe to grind about AXA (I have none), but when given the opportunity to help us and show us where these vast loopholes are in this policy is this the best you can come up with?It was you who posted:FH_Brit wrote:If this is an AXA policy take a close look at the T&C's and see the vast loopholes designed to get AXA out of paying any claim.FH_Brit wrote:I showed you that it is indeed an AXA policy, gave you the link to it, and asked you to show us these loopholes. From today's effort we are still waiting.Put up or shut up is a phrase that seems aposite.0
