Cashback website - more than one chance?

Hello Money Savers!
This is my first post so please excuse me if this has been covered already.
I'm looking to renew both my car and contents insurance (expensive month!) and have found a good deal via a cashback website. Do you know if you have to buy it there and then? If I return to the insurers website via the cashback website in a couple of days time does it all still count? Will I get my cashback?
Confused, London!

You usually have to get the quote and do the transaction in one visit (as opposed to recall a saved quote to do the transaction with)0

No you don't have to buy it there and then, but when you are ready, clear your cookies (ccleaner is a great free program) and go through the cashback site and do the qoute form scratch again - I know it's a small pain, but worth it to make sure it tracks!
Good luck0 -
If you do this, you can't necessarily expect the price to be held between each quote you generate.0

Why would it change? the quote is good for 28 days or so normally!
I normally do the comparison websites and cross check against the cashback amounts, then the top 5 i manual go through a quote directly just to make sure as they can be very different!
Then once happy, clear cookies, go through cashback sites, go through a new quote and Bob's your mothers brother :beer:0 -

Yes, each quote is usually held for a period.
But they can change their prices between quotes! (And with the cashback sites, you need to generate a fresh quote, not recall a saved one - which adds to the risk of not getting the cashback, as discussed in this thread.)0 -
Well that's some good advice, i never knew a quote could change between fresh quotes! Thanks - Never had it myself
And yes i said a fresh quote I thought0 -
Some people, me included, have a browser which they only use for cashbacks and the like. I use Google Chrome for this whereas my regular browsing is through Firefox.
The reason ? well you can kill everything in the browser each time and there is no chance of anything being left behind to throw the cashback off course.
I'd also read up about the cashback sites and the insurance providers. Some track instantly and pay quickly whereas others are less straightforward. In Topcashback you can actually do a test to see if you have it set up right.0 -
I use 2 pcs (one home one work).
I tend to do research and shopping on different PCs.
If you don't have this, then 2 different browsers will seperate the cookies e.g. IE and Firefox.0 -
Ccleaner will do the job just fine, less hassle. You can mark the cookies you want to keep and with one click delete the rest and the case whatever you need.0

This is all really great advice - thanks very much. I never thought to clear my cookies so will make sure I do before I buy!
