Advice please on best places to sell

We have been clearing our late relative's house and have come across various 'collections' which we want to sell, but we don't really have any idea of the value and would like any guidance on the best place to go or site to visit.
The collections are things like thimbles, stamps, Subbuteo, cigar bands, cigarette cards, cufflinks (!), crockery, prints of racing cars - all have been stored safely and are in mint condition. We didn't even know any of this existed until recently, so we think he just bought or collected items and then put them safely away.
Would we be best to take the whole lot to an auction house (if so, any suggestions for SE England), or does anyone know of specialist web sites that we could try ? We are quite happy to ebay everything but want to be sure we get the best prices - we're putting any money we make towards his grandson's wedding fund.
Thanks for any advice

I would deffo try ebay for Subbuteo. I sold some bits and was staggered at the amount some of it went for. Watch a few similar items to the ones you have got as sometimes putting the right heading in makes more money. Also you get a lot of buyers from Italy, I have had no problems with them as I sent everything tracked, but I know other people have.
Cuff links are in at the moment and great for xmas pressies. ebay again as a re most of your items I would think.
Stamps and Cigarette cards I would try at a specialist card auction. Sorry don't know of any your way.0 -
Try Vivastreet.co.uk, for posting free ads and free photos. You can also get cashback if this appeals to you. I'm getting £1.60 in total for posting 3 ads with topcashback.co.uk. I think you get extra for every ad you post from then on.
Expect regular emails from them though, but this is ok as there only invites to upgrade or re-post your ad.0
