Just renewed the Times and Sunday Times and had confirmation of 12 weeks for £3.50 per week after they tried to hike to £6.00 per week. Thanks for pointing out the renewal website,it's just like starting from scratch with them. How strange that they will not negotiate over the phone and are prepared to lose readers.
  • I've also taken out the 12 weeks with the Times for when my Telegraph subscription expires. I can't see the Telegraph being the negotiating type.

I also find it strange that The Times are so stubborn and willing to lose readers.

I know some are interested in the Daily Mail subscription. It is invitation only and they are not actively promoting its subscription service.
However you can easily be contacted by them to take out a subscription by emailing your details to subscriptions@dailymail.co.uk
The current price is £3.60 a week and minimum sub is 6months. It is a saving of 25%.

The Times have just increased our price to £6 a week so it's great to see this offer - especially as you can select your own start date! Thanks blue_eyes

£3.50 offer for 12 weeks appears to be back.

Thanks for this. I had a letter from the Times today increasing my sub from £4 to £6 a week so was planning to ring them to renogotiate - without a lot of hope. But I've now signed up for 12 weeks at £3.50 starting from when I get back from holidays in the summer so I shall save the 2 weeks I would have paid for when we are away.

If you plan to take up this offer, you must read the small print. After the 12 weeks, they will renew your contract for 48 weeks at £6 and you cannot cancel until week 36. So don't forget to cancel (including the direct debit)before the 12 weeks are up - unless you want to continue of course!
  • I have just seen that The Times have completed the DD mandate. I will cancel as soon as they take the £42. Not going to pay £6 a week.

Leave it a couple of days - I cancelled a DD on the day it went out and the bank didn't pay!

I believe the direct debit comes out as a monthly charge of £14, not in one lump sum, so you may need to wait until the third payment had been deducted.

Glad you found it useful, copper.
  • Many thanks for the pointer re direct debit, I shall keep an eye out.

The Telegraph have written to me again asking to take out their £4.20 a week subscription......
  • Yes Times have sent me the paperwork and it is three DD's over three months.

Anyone that likes the FT, here is a new introduction offer:

    4 weeks for a £1 plus £5 M&S voucher....then £2.50 a week for 13 weeks.
