credit cards for ex-pats

I am a permanent resident of France, and until recently had a Saga credit card, now Saga have a new credit card provider, and as I live outside the UK they won't renew it.
Is there any credit card that I can apply for that doesn't make a charge on foreign transactions? I have a Barclaycard and a British bank account.

UK credit card providers will only consider applicants who are UK residents.
People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.

If you applied using a UK address, and then didn't make waves it's generally OK. If your bank realises that you are permanently non resident they may close your account. The trick is not to make waves or even ask them.

Presumably, you applied for these cards whilst living in the UK and have since moved to France.

  • Issue is you don't lend money to someone who lives in another country as if they don't pay it back then you can't send a baliff from the uk with a uk court on the eurostar.

So as suggested use a uk and and just say you have a holiday home in france or apply for a french cc.

Other halfs grand parents spend 9 months a year in cyprus but have a uk and all uk cc and bank acc. No probs if you put it like that to the bank.

Then that's the best place for your banking. If you have truly left the UK then do just that.

Our banks are in a enough mess caused by lending to people outside UK waters so I'm all for them stopping the practise completely.

No need to be rude. You simply applied for these cards whilst still a UK resident and then moved abroad. You can change your address on an existing account to one abroad but they won't let you open a new account whilst not a resident.
