WARNING BEWARE BCP (and poss others) Meet & Greet Parking

I guess this is probably A WARNING for all car parking in general and not specifically Meet & Greet but just wanted to highlight a problem I now have to deal with

Recently had my car booked in with BCP Meet & Greet at Stansted, whilst away on holiday, having used them many times before at various airports

On my return, my vehicle had been damaged, large scratch down one side and a number of smaller ones, reported at collection photos taken of the damage, claim forms completed etc

Cintra (who manage the car parking for BCP) having assessed the claim deny it is down to them, as no proof of when / how it happend despite the vehicle supposedly being secured with them whilst I was away

Can only provide me with their insurance details (AIG) if I wish to take it further

So I raise a claim with AIG and they themselves assess the claim and information available from Cintra

Not supprisingly they have now come back and can only agree with Cintra, (suprise suprise their client)

They quote that " as it appears damage was caused by an unknown party and not an employee of Cintra, they will not accept liability for damage caused"

So having believed that my vehicle was securely parked I am now left with a vehicle damaged and have to look to resolve this via my own insurance (probably hitting my no claims) or out of my own pocket

So beware when leaving your car parked, as it may not be as secure / safe as you imagine

I do indeed plan to take this further as it seems to easy a cop out to suggest it cant be confirmed when or how the damage took place

Anyone else had to deal with this type of issue and any advice appreciated

    Fortunately not.

I believe that the general T&Cs for using these services release the companies from liability for damage etc. Do you have the terms of service and liability clauses from BCP?

Thing is, you park it anywhere, secure, insecure, the company who owns that car park, the council for the street, all take no responsibility for loss or damage.

It's an easy option for them, but if you hadn't booked a meet and greet, and just parked your car, and you had a scratch, dent etc on your car upon return, you'd not be able to claim off anyone else.

  • About ten years ago I worked a few night shifts for a (now defunct) car parking company near one of the big airports and was shocked by what I experienced. As part of a small team we had to shunt the cars around so they were ready for collection the next morning by people arriving back from their holidays. So the team leader chose the best car available to drive us to the line of cars to be moved, we moved a car and he took us back again to move another. I saw wing mirrors hitting each other as cars were moved, windows left open, radios played full, in fact in general it was appalling.
Hopefully this industry is better regulated now, but I would still never leave my car at a Meet and Greet car park!
