I think as the person who called did so without a number to pass on to complain higher, she really set herself up for a gobful, it's not right but it's understandable. The professional thing to do is have some way to pass the buck at all times.

I know this is not any help, but before you do something that drastic with your furniture,a telephone call FIRST to confirm everything is going to plan can save you a lot of hassle.

Thanks very much for all your replies.

Just for the record I would like to say that when I lost the plot with the lass who rang me ... I was not rude or abusive ... I am a nice person ... but I was angry at being stonewalled and yes, I insisted that something be sorted ... but was not rude or agressive ... just not happy at being told it will be a week and I can't do anything or give you any numbers and I did say that I knew the problem was not of her doing.

I found a phone number for their head office on their website and rang it. The lady I spoke to was very helpful and yes, it was a mistake at their end. The man who made the mistake made others too and has been dismissed a couple of weeks back. She has managed to get a delivery sorted for first thing Monday which is a lot better than Thursday. She felt that the person who rung me was in a panic at having to at such a late date and handled it badly. She did ring Head Office after speaking to me and they started a full investigation as to what had happened so when I rang they had already started to get the furniture together for a Monday delivery.

It would have been better if I had been told those facts in the first place and told that she was going to ring Head office to see if anything could be done, instead of being given the "mushroom treatment".

I have rung to say thank you for ringing Head Office to see what could be done and to say that I hope I did not upset her.

I will have to get used to the idea of "camping out" in my bedroom till Monday and appreaciate what some have said about it not being the end of the world. I know that but was just very dissapointed having been all phsyced (is that how you spell it?) up for tomorrow and my dream bedroom.

PS. Hoyle10 Enjoy your weekend in Haworth. It is a wonderful place. Sorry if I have cost you money!

To be honest it sounds like a standard management response from their head office. There is allways someone to blame who has been dismissed. And it is allways someone in management who manages to speed things up when things go wrong. So it does show that someone in head office has been on a customer relations training course.

However they could have been telling the truth :rotfl: but we will never know. It is still worth asking for a discount.....if you don't ask you don't get.
