Pregnancy & potential redundancy

Hi There
I am currently 3 mths pregnant and just found out the company I work for is potentially going to close in the new year (I will be 7-8mth preg by then) and relocating to a site 3 hours drive from my home.
My questions are:
- What benefits would I be entitles too? Does anyone know my rights?
-Can my employer make me redundant?
- I currently pay the premium level of insurance on my mortgage but I checked last night and said it would only pay out if I was seeking a job. I would not be able to seek a new job as I would be on maternity leave from the end of March. Therefore I am just wondering do you think I would still be able to get my insurance to pay out whilst I am on maternity. as maternity is not covered anywhere within my policy.
I would really appreciate some advice - i am new to pregnancy and new to all this redundancy threat. I dont want to worry when i may not need to.
Many Thanks

Hi
My wife is in a similar situation. She has been made redundant (effective from the end of this month). The company has closed a branch and she is no longer needed. She is pregnant and due on Xmas eve. She was not paid off because of her pregnancy (that is not legal). Her boss has to pay her SMP (90% for the first 6 weeks then stat (123.60) for the remaining 33.
Can't answer on the insurance question, sorry.
How long have you been with the company?

Kevrod,
Sorry to disagree but it is perfectly legal to make someone redundant when they are pregnant PROVIDED any selection criteria does not use the pregnancy as a reason for selection.
e.g. In the OP's case, if all employees at the current site are made redundant that would be acceptable.0 -
Sorry, just read again what I said. I meant to say that it is not legal to use pregnancy as a criteria for redundancy.... it has been a long day.0
