Just a suggestion.
I run a few forums on phpbb and phpbb2. One major problem with speed was the birthday mod. I understand this is vbulletin however is it really necessary ,for every time thousands of us log on to this great forum each day, for the program to have to search through the database to check if it is somebodys birthday. This could happen more than once if you log out. My guess is it must have to do this 10,000 times a day.
When I went into the program - it meant me changing about 10 pages of simple code. It runs a lot faster now and my forums have nothing like the amount of traffic this great forum gets.
Just an idea!!!

Best of Luck and I hope it speeds up - it is painful at the moment using the forum. At the same time I'm addicted to it

I should have actually said that although saving bandwidth it actually cut down a lot of processor usage which was in fact one of the main issues causing slow speeds on the forums.Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0
