Parking on double yellows..

For a few mornings now there has been a car parked on double yellow lines very near to a main junction..inbetween 2 narrow rds and on a corner it causes havoc and there is soon going to be an accident.
Unfortunately i always get home too late to ring someone and it has gone by this time (roughly there for half hour)..but this morning i was earlier and it was there again..a very near miss with 2 cars infront of me resulted in having had enough so rung the police..they reffered me to the council who said i wasn't the first person to ring and they will send someone out in the morning to see what's going on BUT if there was a disabled badge on there is nothing they can do.
Now before i get slated for being racist/discriminative etc i am not but i am completely against certain parking and this imparticular one is putting lots of people in danger..i basically said if i wasn't the firsat to report it why was it still there and secondly if the disabled badge is the case then they can effectively park anywhere? she said yes..is this true..seems madness to me and very unthoughtful tbh.

It is pure madness. I have no probs if disabled badge holders parks on double yellow temporarily but not on a permanent basis as you have described as it poses a danger to other road users.0

This from the DFT FAQs on 'Where Can I Park'Department_for_Transport wrote:A blue badge is not a licence to park anywhere. Like other road users, you must obey the rules of the road, as laid out in the Highway Code and should not park where it would endanger, inconvenience or obstruct pedestrians or other road users. Further details are given in Section 2 of our booklet “The Blue Badge Scheme: rights and responsibilities in England”
You might also want to click HERE, print off page 23 and pop a copy on the windscreen! Or, contact your local council (Blue Badge administration - not Highways) and report the offence, which may result in the withdrawal of the Blue Badge.:T:T:T

Thanks guys glad it's not just me that think's it's rubbish!
Ginnersinner thanks for that i was sure she was wrong as i said to dh 'so people can just park at the lights and such like regardless of lines etc' nonsence i tell you!!
BUT another fave in our small town is the main rd, as you approach there are 2 docs and there are always about 3-4 cars causing havoc as you have to venture onto the other said if a very buisy road, drives dh mad but unfortunatly nothing can be done apparantly..seems stupid..again i dont mind them parking where is convienient and safe but these are not..
Sorry rant over! this person i hope is not disabled and gets a ticket..i will update tommorow morning when i spot a warden ...or not as the case may be!0 -
Did the car have it's hazard lights on, you can park anywhere with those showing,It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0

Its amazing how many DDs think they can park anywhere with the badge...even on DR Lines!, they just dont read the "Bumf" they get with the badge They Cant park on D/y/ls or D/r/ls except to "Drop off"0

They CAN park on DY except where loading restrictions -- and they can NEVER stop on DR. Who is not bothering to read correctly?
In the circumstances described, however, the parking sounds obstructive and dangerous and is not allowed as ginnersinner explained.0 -

You mean you can't. That's going to stuff a lot of people I see

However is it the police who deal with obstructive parking and the council who deal with basic parking on DY etc. A lot of councils have loading bans they don't really want and restrictions on disabled parking as the parking on DY lines is a problem with blue badges- in Scotland you can stop all day all night no problem, at least in England there is a 3hr time limit. I personally think the system needs changed or overhauled.
Parking too close to a corner in any circumstance, yellow, red, white or other lines regardless it is usually regarded as dangerous and can be prosecuted.
I find the 'decriminialised' system madness, the old system was far better as now police and council's buck pass. Indeed I know of a similar situation that causes traffic queues because of illegal parking in a bus stop- the police have admitted they are powerless to help, only the council and the folk just drive off when they come- however 200yrds away over the border the police deal with everything!0 -
Hi well i rung friday as it was there again, i was told a warden had been up and no car..i don't believe them for a seond tbh, a whole week and the 1 day they go it isn't..well will see tommorow and ring again if so! no hazard lights on either..although wouldn't have made a blind bit of difference to me as still a stupid unsafe place to park it.0
