Hi

Please could anybody who knows how to get a 24 hour test drive for a BMW let me know. I have read somewhere that this is possible but had tried to find on the interenet where this is but without success.

Thank you.

Paul
Kind Regards

Go to your local dealer, look like a real prospect and tell them you can't decide on the model/engine. If you are remotely genuine they will let you have a day drive, but will probably want to check out your insurance or even make you take the risk temporarily on your own cover.

    Hi Colino

Thank you for getting back so quickly. I have been in touch with the dealer but they are even delaying a standard test drive and I am a genuine potential buyer - customer service is not great.
    Kind Regards

Unacceptable treatment from the dealer (assuming your are a generally presentable chap of an age likely to be a serious buyer) . Find another one, there are good ones out there. A 1 to 2 hour test drive is a perfectly reasonable request, getting longer term test drives is something people with a pre-existing relationship with the dealer might be able to arrange, but it's down to what a dealer wants to do in the end.
Where are you? I may know a "decent" dealer in your area or could ask around and find one (on the BMW forum I'm on).
What model are you interested in buying?

£175 gets you a track day at somewhere like Brands Hatch if it was an E92 M3 that you were interested in but thats not very "MSE" :rotfl:

Yes defo go to aanother dealer. My mum had a similar thing happen, she had in the region of £26k to spend on a car, she went to a couple of dealers who didnt really want to help, at one dealership she couldn't ghet a test drive beacause they were to busy  she then found another dealer who bent over backwards to help - incidently they got her business!

    Hi Adrian

    Thank you for your message.

The car is a BMW 520d Tourer SE Business Package.

The dealership I dealt with was Chandlers in Hove, East Sussex.

I also am looking at leasing the vechile so any ideas on that would also be greatly appreicated.

    Thanks

No one is going to lend you their car for 24 hours unless there is something in it for them.

Unless you are planning on leasing direct from the dealer (do BMW dealers offer that?), the dealer won't be interested. If you are, the dealer should be doing all they can to secure the deal - times are hard in the motor trade at present.

Prehaps you could find a dealer/rental company who will rent you the car you want for 24hours so you can see if you like it? Be careful with general rental companies as they often will not guarantee the make/model of car you want ... but some will if you explain how important it is.
Like sellers, rental companies are also having a hard time at present and should go that extra mile to secure a deal.

    Hi Inactive and Wxmlad

Thanks for your thoughts. Firstly the 5 series Tourer is the best in its class by some way so as I don't have to deal with the dealership much I think that is the price worth paying.

However I will try and find a better one, a friend of mind said the Chandlers in Hailsham is just as bad so I may have to go further a field

If you are leasing it, do you need a test drive? Sounds like you pretty much know what you want, so why not just go for it and end the lease if it's not what you want?
[Not that I know anything about cars or leasing them, so this may be a rubbish idea!]
