got a laugh this morning at this money saving dude...

Ha, ha this made me laugh. Especially the quote where he says he will visit each one every week and use the other three days to rest :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
At work today, but I have done my meal plan for this week, so tonight I have to make pastry  for a steak pie. I have had a tin of steak pie filling in my cupboard for ages, so tonight I plan to use it.
Otherwise, not too much going on here. I have just given my meter readings to my new fuel supplier to switch to cheaper deal than the one I was on.
I'm also driving really carefully and on my last tank of diesel I got over 50mpg. Not bad for a 2.2l estate!
I have ham, cheese & pickle sandwiches for lunch today. DS has salmon paste (4 for £2 in tesco) which is his favourite for some reason.
I did weaken yesterday and put my heating on in the evening. It is thr first time it has been on since the summer (!) but it was very cold and we were both wet from the horrible weather yesterday. Much better today but very cold. Tonight I'll bleed the radiators to make sure I don't have any air in them, I couldn't be bothered last night.
Have a great day everyone!Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

You HM pasties sound fab....how do you make them?
They are gorgeous pasties! I use either HM pastry (if I am feeling energetic) or ready rolled puff pastry (you can usually get this in the whoops section) and roll it out into a square sort of shapes.
Fry some onions gently until they are really soft, at the same time put potatoes on to boil as if you are making mash and grate some fairly strong cheddar cheese (I like loads of cheese in mine!). When it is all cooked, mash the spuds roughly with a fork and mix in the onions and cheese and plenty of black pepper.
Put a couple of spoonfuls into the middle of one side of your pastry squares. Beat an egg and use a pastry brush to go round the edge of the square and then fold it in half. Go round the 3-double sided bits again with egg and then fold it back on itself and pinch together to make a crust. Then brush the whole of the top with egg, !!!!! with a fork in the top and bake in an oven about 200 degC for about 20-25 minutes (or until golden brown).
They are gorgeous with some chips/plain wedges and some brown sauce.
Enjoy

Meant to say, these are really good to batch cook and then freeze wrapped up individually. I usually make about 6 at a time.LBM 17th August 2009 Debt at LBM £18,612 Proud to be dealing with my debts.0 -
