Can you avoid single supplements???

Have recently become a widower and have been astounded at the single supplements required for foreign holidays, does anyone know of any way to avoid these. I'm only 54 and don't really fancy the escorted coach tours that sometimes advertise 'no single supplements' but would rather fly (probably to spain etc.) and would prefer my own room rather than have to share a room with a stranger (as a few companies arrange) and all my friends still have their partners. Any ideas how to solve this irritating penalty for being single ??

Have you looked at Saga? They seem to recognise that just because you're single, you don't want to share a room with a total stranger. Alternatively, you might trying pricing a holiday that isn't a package.0
