Prams for small cars?

I know I could ask on the parent thread but I will lose all the replied by the time I log on again so please leave this thread here :)

Basically, we have a lovely pram, a Silver Cross Sleepover on linear chassis but I have a Skoda Fabia and the chassis will not fit in the boot! It's 103cms long and that is too big for my car, which I thought had a big boot.

it is the same size as the Pliko Pramette chassis and makes me think that this is a standard pram chassis size - but surely people have cars the size of the Fabia AND prams that fit them?

Can anyone help me find a smaller pram as I face a trip to teh grandparents' next week for five days and won;t be able to take my baby out anywhere while we are there!

We could buy a chassis for up there but it is £170 and that doesn;t help if we want to go out anywhere else (although the chassis will fit on the back seat hooked over the headrest, but that isn't ideal).

any ideas?

  • How about the Loola? I had one and it fit in my Yaris that I had at the time.

Does the loola go fully flat? We want something that goes 180 degrees. It would fot the car but I'm wary because it is primarily a pushchair rather than a pram and she is very used to her proper pram now.

Lot's of pushchairs go fully flat now, and are often much smaller than a pram chassis. I have the maclaren techno and used it from birth (though admittedly not much before 3 months as sling was better,) some people find these too long to fit in some car boots but by putting the handles on the lowest setting I have fitted it in the boot of a yaris and a swift, which are both small.

Also my SIL has a chicco one, sorry not sure of name, but it is a pram (with carrycot attachment) pushchair, and has car seat affixed, and was fairly cheap when new, although it is very sturdy and handles well. It fits fine in my astra, and has fitted in yaris, as the handles fold down. Ebay is your friend! :) Hopefully people would send you measurements if you msg them.

This is the one (though hers was much cheaper £199) but it was 2 yrs ago.

That won;t fit - it's longer than the chassis we have folded! They are all so big!

I'd buy an umbrella-fold pushchair - most go flat, and it will be very useful for popping out in the car/on the bus etc, for far longer than she will need a proper pram. You can put the head bumper cushion in if she's little, a couple of blankets and she will be perfectly comfortable. I have an OBaby one which is very good and cost £50 - I use it just as much as my big £250 travel system now.

What about the Streety , I got this and lent it to my friend with a Ford Ka yesterday . Rear facing too .

The only other thing is take the parcel shelf out , my sister had a Corsa when she had her boy and she had a large Graco rear facing pram and that fitted in no problems .
Baby Thomas born 3 months early by emergency section on 21/1/09 weighing 1lb 15ozs .
Thomas came home after 3 months and 2 days in hospital weighing 5lb 15ozs
    Thomas weighed 21lb 4ozs on his 1st birthday , a total weight gain of 18lbs 5ozs !

i've got a luna Mamas and papas ( well selling it at mo cause yet again i've changed my mind, lol) but that fold down tiny. it sort of folds in half so ends up being a square sort of shape. my mil has a tiny boot in her car and it fits in perfectly. it is also very very light to push. and carry one handed if need to. the handle bar also adjusts in height so you can tuck it up to make it even smaller for the boot.

The Quinny Zapp is brilliant - but the child has to be able to sit up (i.e. 5-6 months onwards).
