Order Sent to Wrong Address

Yesterday morning I ordered a top from ASOS online, I received a confirmation e-mail and noticed that the wrong delivery address had accidently been automatically selected (an old address that I used to stay at). I contacted their customer services department and informed them of the mistake at this time the order was listed as being "processed".
I received this reply:-
Unfortunately, we are currently unable to amend an order once it has been submitted.
This includes changing the delivery name or address, upgrading to next day delivery, adding or removing items from the order, changing size or colour and combining different orders into one big one.
However, we may be able to re-route your parcel once it has been shipped with our carrier, this may result in your parcel being delayed by 1 day. If you would like to proceed to amend your address please allow until your parcel has been shipped (you will receive an automated email to confirm this). We then will contact the carrier and request this with them. Please be aware, that in some cases we are unable to fulfil your request.
If you would like for us to try and do this, just send us another email when you have received the email from us confirming that your order has been dispatched.
So I contacted them again once the order was listed as being "shipped" and got a very similar reply. I then received an e-mail this morning saying my order had been "dispatched" so I contacted them again asking for them to recall my parcel and have it redelivered to my new address and received this reply:-
This is the address your order has been shipped to and I am unable to amend it at this stage.
May I ask you to allow 6 working days for Royal Mail to attempt delivery? After this time, we can investigate further and have the parcel sent on to you or issue a brand new replacement order.
I understand that if royal mail are unable to deliver then they post a card and if no one claims after 3wks the parcel is returned to sender.
What worries me is either
a) the new tenant at my old address signs for it
b) someone goes to pick up the parcel from the depot - i know you need i.d but I've picked up parcels for friends loads of times
So I know it was my fault originally for clicking the wrong address by mistake but I feel I contacted them very promtly about the matter and the order was still in their possession for over a day before going to royal mail so they could have tried to find it. I need the top for this weekend so have ordered a 2nd one in the mean time (to the correct address!!!) and plan to return the 1st one if and when it arrives
But...Does anyone know what will happen if someone else signs for my parcel

Thank you for your email.
Due to your parcel being sent to you by Royal Mail, I'm afraid it is not possible for us to amend the delivery address on this order.
I can see that the address on order 15244592 is: ******my old address*****Due to your parcel being sent to you by Royal Mail, I'm afraid it is not possible for us to amend the delivery address on this order.
