British gas tariff enquirey

:confused:Hope someone out there may be able to help me. I am signed up to both gas and electric with british gas, and am paying both by monthly direct debit, and always have done. For some reason, totally out of the blue, a note appeared on my electric bill stating that i had "changed my payment method from payment card to direct debit, and my new tariff would be adjusted in line with this change" I have never payed by payment card, and have no means to be able to, as my meter is of standard sorts.
Three phone calls to bg confirmed that i was receiving all my dd discounts as i should be, but not one person was able to confirm what tariff i had actually been paying all these years for my electric. I am lead to beleive a payment card is more expensive per kw than a standard meter.
I would be very grateful if anyone knows of any sites that will give a comparison of prices from previous years. Thankyou for your help.
