open up the casing rip up the inside disc that will mean no-one can get at the data - the casing can go in plastic recycling facilities not sure about the insides

Don't bother - just slide open the "door", place it on something that you can safely cut onto, and cut a slit in the disc itself from centre to outside edge - it should be easy as it's only made of thin plastic.

have a look into your local library, you might get free internet access, if their machines don't have a floppy drive installed, they should have a usb drive you could use to see what's on them and transfer what you want to a stick.

If you just want to destroy the data, you can usually pop off the metal sliding cover with a screwdriver (being careful of course), then cut through the magnetic disk that is exposed with a pair of scissors - this will make it very difficult for anyone to read. You should then be able to recycle safely.

If you need to get information off the disks, then probably easiest to buy a cheap external USB floppy drive from Ebay. As previously suggested you could then copy the data to a memory stick or CD - before destroying as above.

Snap the case open, cut the disc with scissors, put the case and hub into the recycling.

finding a speaker with a pretty chunky magnet on would probably do enough damage but for sensative data probably not to be 100% relied on.

To open the casing you just need to squeeze/flex the disk a bit and it'll pop open, they were very flimsey

Possibly buy a floppy drive (mine cost me £7). They're a doddle to install and you can then check/move/delete what's on the disks.
