Delayed completion of work

I'm currently having a kitchen fitted and tomorrow will be the 14th working day (i.e. week day) of the 10-14 working days quoted (in writing) to complete the work. However, I was advised today that the work will only be completed some time this weekend due to having another installation to start this week. Are there any rules or guidelines that inform how we can respond to, and deal with, this delay?

On a related side note, our kitchen fitter commenced work on a Thursday and worked that weekend. He did not work the next weekend but apologised and stated he was ill, but worked the weekend after. My question is, was it reasonable of us to expect the 10-14 "working days" to include these worked weekend days?

Thank you in advance for any help or advice that can be offered.

If it's going to be completed by this weekend, it's not much of a delay. It will soon be finished.

What do you want from this situation?

They sound pretty reliable. Do they do bathrooms? I need to have a new bathroom fitted. If they're in the London area could you please post details.

    Thanks.

Have you asked why the fitters need to start a new installation before completing yours? There may be some obscure reason why you should be delayed by 3 or 4 days that might be perfectly acceptable once you know the reason.
