If so the 1642wlmi is £ 551.65 including VAT at shop acer. They have good sales service:

YES I MEANT THE ACER ASPIRE 1642....SORRY...0 -
No worries. I think i'm going to ask shop acer for some commission!
When i bought my 5024 they did a price match for me but then the next day their price dropped further still and they were kind enought to refund me the difference which they didn't have to do. That's good service if you ask me so i'm happy to give them a good press. :rotfl:Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere......0 -

£539 does not include VAT.
The price has gone up on shop acer. They will do a price match on the ebuyer price but you can beat that.
£543.40 at Savastore

Savastore have a poor reputation so i'd reccomend getting a price match at shop acer (that's what i did and they even beat it by a few quid).Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere......0 -

sorry for being a pain but what do you say to acer ? do you tell them that you can get cheaper on ebuyer od just ask them if they price match or should i ring them ?0 -
It's probably best to give them a call and ask them straight up if they will do a price match. Tell them the model number and where you saw it.
I actually did it using the live chat facility on the web site which allowed me to provide the URL for the price i wanted them to match. The sales girl looked it up and was happy to match it straight away. I think they are quite used to people doing it.
The sales girls name was Kayleigh and she was very good.Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere......0 -
Toshiba do a decent range of laptops. My mate got a really good Toshiba laptop just before christmas and that was only just over £500, so you could find an excellent laptop for that price if you go with Toshiba.0

Can anyone recommend one under 1000 pounds or thereabouts with good spec ie a desktop replacement that is QUIET. My mate's Toshiba satellite is deafening every 30 secs.
Sony Vaio's got a new dual processor one out, some overlap here with the 0% ccard purchase thread may be in order as it's at 1200 or thereabouts!! - does anyone know if it's any good or you can talk Sony down?
Personally I would avoid Dells but see they aren't part of your poll anyhow. I recently returned a faulty one and yesterday saw an ad for 200 pounds cheaper in the paper for the same PC with same spec. They have too many "special offer" deals and their PCs aren't the quality they used to be imho.0 -
Can someone give me a quick summary of what is available on the market at the moment for around £400?
Thanks.0
