Will be getting a free upgrade to Win 7 Professional as well when it gets released and also getting rid of bloody Norton as soon as it arrives.
dont think you'll get the windows 7 upgrade if it came from dell outlet. I rang dell last week about this and they said outlet computers arnt eligible. Got my inspiron today and double checked by submitting the service tag, and its not eligible. I bought mine from the home outlet site so there could be a different policy with the business site of course.0 -
Yeah, looks like there's a different policy as it's definitely eligible and said as such during the config.
The business machines look better value than the home ones- a better processor, a 7200 rpm drive and a dedicated graphics card for about the same price as an Inspiron. Presumably it's ugly as sin though...0 -
I have just bought a Sony laptop. I've searched online to find the most elegant and cheap laptop and I found one its so affordable.0

Hi,
I am searching for a sub £300 laptop for my mother and am in need of some reccomendations if anyone has any?
It will literally just be used for searching the net and needs office for occasional Spreadsheet and word processor use and I would like it to have a cd/dvd drive.
As it needs office and a optical drive im pressuming a netbook is out of the question?
I have found several pc's online for sub £300 but many are celeron which many are saying will run slowly with Vista?
Can anyone recoommend any suitable products?
Cheaper the better really!Snootchie Bootchies!0 -

I would go for an samsung NC10 that have come down to £270 at Dixons, and if you really need an optical drive then go for this: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/167565 £31.99
If you are going to to put office on I would say to go for an older less power resorce one or put another 1gb of ram in the netbook.0 -
Thanks for that.
Ive been thinking and think it would be best to get an optical drive built in in case she wants to put any software on.
I guess ill keep my eye out for a budget laptop.Snootchie Bootchies!0
