Just thought I'd let you know that Dell have a 1 day special offer on today - you can get free hardrive upgrade and free memory upgrade0
-
After looking at many options for a laptop, I think I have found what I need! Can anyone please have a look for me and tell me if this is a good deal please?
It is from Dell and is an Inspiron 6400. On the dell website the product code is N05642. With extra battery and better screen ( I think) and with three year warranty and case, the price is £665.07. Is the warranty worth it?
Thanks for any replies which are much appreciated as my knowledge is based on information collected over the last few months!!
Thanks0 -
Sorry I forgot to add, I need a printer to go with the machine and so is an "all-in-one" with fax a good idea?0

I just bought the Inspiron 6400 that you were thinking of getting.
I got the double memory and double hard drive for free so its a much better performance and they upgraded the battery from a 6 cell to a 9 cell. They gave me the Antivirus software which will last 18 months and they gave me a free carry case. I also got the bluetooth capabilty. I paid £460.
You've got to ring and be willing to negoiate with them. Set yourself a budget limit and tell them what you want. My limit was £450 but i went slightly over because the Dell rep knocked so much off the price for me.

Unless you are very unlucky, the extended warranty isn't worth wasting money on, also if you are going for truelife(shiny) screen, be careful, a lot of people don't like them (and their ilk), because they are too reflective like a mirror. https://www.dmxdimension.comEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

Thanks for replies. I will be going ahead and buying but I will not take the three year warranty.0

Hi. That is the laptop I want to get from them the Inspiron 6400. Did it take much negoiating to get that deal out of them?Back on MSE again! to take control of my finances and not let it control me. :T May grocery challenge £41.96/1400 -
Hi
Yeah it did take a lot of negoation with them. I was probably the last customer of the day with him aswell because i rang at half 7 and they close at 8 so he might have wanted one more sale to boost his record for that day.
If the person who you are talking to wont negotiate with you dont give them your number and just say your not interested. Then ring up Dell again and speak to someone else. Also tell them that you have a friend who recommended Dell because he bought a laptop and they negotiated a really good deal for him.
Do some research before hand and tell them exactly what you want and how much you can spend - be willing to go over the limit you tell by a little bit and then he may be able to help you.
I would contact them soon as they have a special offer on at the mo which gives you the double memory and hard drive - this makes the laptop a LOT better! You may have to ask for this offer when you ring up - dont assume they'll give it to you without you asking.
hope that helps:money:0 -

Told them I had seen the same type of packing in a high street store for the same price.Back on MSE again! to take control of my finances and not let it control me. :T May grocery challenge £41.96/1400 -
Can you tell me how much harddrive space and memory you got?
I've seen on the dell website that I can get 1024 memory and 80gb harddrive for £400 but will phone them if I can perhaps get a better deal0
