  • Regarding the A100-147 laptop. I was told the price jumped cos their was stock problems and it was to stop people trying to buy it. However if you go to the Dixons web site using code TH100 it reduces the price to 499
  • Hi there....this sounds a good buy on Staples...anyone know if its a good reliable make?...the specs look good to me but I'm not really that techy....Fujitsu Siemens AMILO L7320. A.d are there any extra discount codes for Staples going around?

Kittie ...... I know u get 6% back using quidco. Bear in mind that the AMILO L7320 price on the web EXCLUDES VAT! Does not make it clear on the website so I nearly checked out !!! --- back in stock and not a bad price even at 399 - (24quid quidco) = 376quid.

It has a weakish processor which I don't think you will notice if you are just using for surfing and running office apps. The 1GB memory and 80GB memory are hard to come by at this price.

I am being stingy and looking for a better deal again!!!!!

You could also try and get a free gift as well as there are some free gift codes for staples floating around like a free mp3 player or free digital scales to name a few. Whether these still work I dunno... do not be surprised if they don't work.

  • Thanks Jp...didnt realise it was ex VAT,most ppl put it as that dont they..I'll keep looking and let me know if you find a good one, lol. Only want it for basic net stuff and work, office etc but want a decent spec so it doesnt go out of date too fast...and as cheap as poss. I quite like the one on Comet too...ACER AS3692WLMI at £395 but read somewhere where Acers not so good...but then again it seems like theres good and bad points about all of them. What are the EI systems like at PC World?..oh well, on with searching..

There is one poster on here who like to knock Acers but they are better than the Ei systems that you have mentioned!

What do people think about this Compaq laptop, at PC World for £399:

    Features for this COMPAQ C300EA
    - Intel Celeron M 420 Processor 1.60GHz
    - 1024 MB RAM
    - 80 GB Hard Drive
    - DVD ReWriter MultiDrive
    - 15.4" Widescreen HD Brightview Display
    - Microsoft Windows Media Centre
    - 128 MB Intel GMA 950 shared Graphics
    - 1 Year FREE Warranty

It looks pretty good to me, and I'm thinking of buying one, so would be interested in some MSE advice.
  • Hi all
What do folks think of this Lenovo laptop? I know that Lenovo have great build quality and I wondered if this was reasonably priced, or is it another "fake" discount? I know you can go via Quidco for another discount.
    Thanks very much.

  • Ok, have been looking for a laptop and found a Packard Bell at Curry's.

I hate Curry's with a passion, but if this is a good deal I'm willing to lower myself to deal with them, lol.

PACKARD BELL S4996 INTEL PENTIUM M 740 PROCESSOR 1.73GHz LAPTOP, selling at £449, but there's a discount taking it to £405 with free delivery.

Opinions requested from those in the know please!!!
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

I wouldn't say the Curry's laptop is a good deal. It's not bad but there are cheaper, better laptops out there. I would never buy something from Comet, Currys, PC World etc because I always seem to find a better deal online somewhere.
  • I'm in a similar mindset of 'the high street MUST be more expensive, right?'. Comet do seem to throw the odd good deal out there, though.
