figure stats out yourselves as i'm destined never to get them down anywhere. fwiw HP - TL-60 + GMA 8400 GS, Advent T5250 + GMA X3100, Fuji T5300 + GMA 950 (and the only one stuck at 2 GB mem, others are 4GB expandable).0 -
pcworls refurbished have very good prices, but i cannot find any info about their warranties on these laptops etc so i would rather not buy them0
-
yeah i posted here about that yesterday

They all say "Includes standard manufacturers warranty" which for new ones is usually 12 months from manfacturers, though i don't know how this differs for refurbs (usually it's the same).
Most of them actually state this specifically in the list (eg the Fuji Li1818 says "THIS IS A REFURBISHED PRODUCT AND COMES WITH A FULL 12 MONTHS WARRANTY.". The ones that don't may just be lazy description writers. There's deffinately a lot of Advent ones that don't say this and these are DSGi's own brand laptops so I don't know if there's a connection there or not. Either way you've got at least the 7 day cooling off + a few weeks to ensure it's not faulty.0 -
Hi
I'm looking for a new laptop; we already have a sony NR21 but DH uses it a lot after work and I've now been 'granted' £500 (!) to find myself a laptop!
I would like to buy a sony/HP; will need to be fast, email, surfing, watching movies (HD),wifi (& maybe bluetooth). a webcam would be great but not essential. oh dear, am I asking too much for £500??
I missed out on this deal from john lewis:
http://www.johnlewis.com/230472317/Product.aspx
HP DV6799, 15.4',T8100 core2duo 2.10gz,2 mb ram, 250 gb HDD, multi card reader, bluetooth - all for £499
then saw this on amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Dual-Core-Processor-Hard-drive-Accelerator/dp/B00131QZS6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1215336582&sr=1-1
Sony VAIO NR21 Notebook, Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor T2330, 1.60GHz, 15.4" TFT, 2048MB Memory, 200GB Hard-drive, DVD±RW, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, Vista Home Premium
Can someone help?? I'm really tempted by the sony only 'coz the HP is now OOS and I want to order soon!
Thanks!!!0 -
http://uk.insight.com/apps/productpresentation/index.php?product_id=HPYA05SUI
HP 6715b, AMD TL-62 2.1 GHz, 15.4" TFT, 2048MB Memory, 250GB Hard-drive, DVD±RW Lightscribe, Radeon X1250, Vista Home Premium
~£450 shipped but £30 cashback from HP and may be other codes / quidco available.0 -
I also just missed out on the John Lewis HP laptop deal, which was a cracker, especially with the 2 year gaurantee - the model has now been removed from the website.
http://www.johnlewis.com/230479200/Product.aspx this is the exact same laptop except this one has 3 gbytes or ram instead of 2 gytes - I am now hoping they reduce this one too!0 -
just found this on Ebuyer
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/138095
280 smackers the only problem is it dont have 2Gb memory but i'm sure you can pick up another 1GB of memory cheap.0 -
Why not a Asus Eee? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=959&catid=1070
Or an MSI wind:
http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=168086&partner=froogle
Or a Dell or Lenovo, not sure what the cheapest deal is but the build quality and reliability are worth the extra in the long run.0 -
You said you want a laptop for HD movies, but the laptops you list do not have screens capable of full HD. Full HD is 1080 pixels (vertically). Just thought I'd mention it.0

HP 530 Laptop Intel Celeron M 520 1x 1GB 120GB brightview 15.4" widescreen DVD±RW WLAN Vista Home Basic (Office 07 Ready *Trial) *FREE 1GB MEMORY*
I bought one of these a few months ago, it's great. Extra memory was easy to put in.
