Hi
I recently bought an Advent laptop from PC World which I'm very happy with. Unfortunately, every time I switch it on I get a "DSG Demo" bleating on about how fabulous AOL is. It is very frustrating and I have no idea how to remove this programme - can anyone please advise?
Thanks in anticipation

This will be in your startup menu.
(presuming you've got XP)...........
Click Start>Run> type in msconfig hit enter. A box will appear. Look for the startup tab at the top and click this.
Look down the list of programs with ticks in the boxes. If you can work out which one it is, untick the box, click apply then OK. Don't untick anything if you are unsure about it, you need some of these for the system!
When you restart the computer, the demo shouldn't play. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

If you are lucky it's in the startup folder
Click on <start> then <all programs> then look for a folder called <startup>. If it's there just remove it & restart
If you aren't as lucky you have 2 choices
1) eliminate it totally using add/remove programs from the control panel
2) click on <start> then <run> & type in msconfig & click on OK. Then click on the Startup tab & untick the application, click OK & decide if to restart or not. When you do restart you'll get a message about displaying the "system config utility" with a tick box to stop displaying it. Tick this & hopefully everything will be OK0 -
Wow, that was quick! I've just done exactly as you said and it has worked a treat - thank you so much.0
