I think police deserve higher salaries than your average office worker because of the nature of the job and the risks entailed.
£26-£30k doesn't seem excessive for nurses either, considering the responsibility and the shift work.
I find £40k+ quite hard to believe as average for teachers. The top of the main scale isn't much over £30k outside London. Have you got a citation for your figure?

The pay for police is well documented, as it is for teachers. if they don't like the salary, they shouldn't take the job. its not as if they are trapped with offers of 100k and then told "not really!!!"

these people are scum. if they don't like it - resign and get a job elsewhere.

    Getting slighty tedious now.
  • Getting slighty tedious now.

its been getting tedious for 12 long years.

my views won't change. if a job is advertised at 35k or whatever it is, then why apply for it, get it and then moan about it? If 35k is too low for you, get a job paying more elsewhere.

Personally, i have never asked anyone to become a policeman, join the army, be a nurse or be a teacher. as far as I know, every person doing those jobs volunteered, so why moan????

yes, they should get proper equipment to do the job, but DON'T moan about the pay.

It was more the scum comment.
  • It was more the scum comment.

people who get a job knowing the pay, and then moan about it, or worse, strike over it, are scum.

Some of them are. You can find scum in pretty much any profession. What I would say is that standards of teachers have dropped a lot, as by far the most common profession people I know from Uni are going into is teaching, as they basically can't get a job doing anything else. Few teachers are worth 40k these days.
