Acer laptop hinge

Hello
I,m looking for some opinions on a minor fault on my daughters acer aspire 5720 laptop.
When opening the laptop there can sometimes be a slight crack as if the hinge is out of line and on inspecting the hinge there is a tiny amount of play in the hinge(i really do mean tiny in that it cant really be seen but i feel a light movement and a very slight cracking noise.)
Im convinced its just a screw that needs tightened up a bit but thats where my mind cant be made up as wheter to send it back to Acer or just see how it goes over the next few months until the warranty expires then if it shows getting any worse then taking it to a repair shop.
I ve already initially booked it in to Acer but i am iffing and butting about sendiing it and then being handed a bill from Acer for something a local repairer coud do for a few quid
As the symptoms are so very slight do you think Acer will repair it without putting it down as normal wear and tear and charge accordingly or will they view it as i do in that dealing with it now stops a hinge potentially breakig and the expense of repair rising??(It was very hard to communicate with acer support as there was a definate language barrier and so hard to ask them direct but perhaps someone has experience of this?
Thanks very Much Rich

I would get it back to acer, or where you purchased it from. Once the hinges start to go they never get better and you'll land yourself with a repair bill outside of the warranty. Incidentally is she lifting the lid by one of the corners? This will put more strain on the nearest hinge.0

Thanks for the quick reply.
I know it makes sense to return it now but my conern is whether Acer will accept it under warranty or bill me for postage and labour making it an expensive repair versus a cheap fix at a good repair shop locally (which would nullify the warranty two months early) SO i guess my question comes down to whether Acer will view it as reasonable to repair under warranty ??0 -
If it's screwed together the same way as my Aspire 2920 you'll need to remove the screws in the base at the back of the laptop and also a couple of screws in the battery compartment before you can flip off the covers around the hinges to get at the hinge screws.0

How long have you had the laptop?0

Hello and thanks for the reply.
Opening it up is nt really an option im afraid as its still under warranty and id nullify the warranty.
My concern is sending it to Acer and Acer not accepting it as a warranty item and charging accordingly. In that case id need to weigh up giving it to a local repair shop against cutting te warranty short by someone other than Acer fixing it.

Hello
Bought it last christmas so it just coming on ten months old.
As i mentioned above my big concern is that Ace will fix it and charge for postage and repair which would spiral the cost for what appears to be a lose screw
Thanks for the reply0 -
Well its still under warranty, 10 months and the hinge breaks, I'd say that wasn't really fit for purpose. Send it back tell them you want it fixed for free and you really shouldn't pay the postage.0
